Happy Valentine’s Day!

When I was growing up, my parents would always have a box of chocolates and a card waiting for my sister and I on Valentine’s morning.

chocolate to share 🙂

Therefore, I decided to do the same for my roommate this morning 🙂

I did, of course, buy the chocolate knowing that she would be obliged to share with yours truly 🙂

I honestly love any excuse to eat chocolate and cook, so last night we had some girlfriends over for a potluck-style dinner, since it’s Valentine’s weekend and all. We did this last year as well, so that makes it tradition – right?

salad

I made these salads with spring mix, strawberries, blueberries, avocado and blueberry goat cheese from Trader Joe’s. Blueberry goat cheese, everybody! It’s kind of off the chain, if you’re into that kind of thing.

cake

I also made a flourless chocolate cake, dusted with powdered sugar. It paired nicely with some vanilla ice cream (you gotta balance out the richness from the chocolate, right? 🙂 )

Recipe from Martha Stewart, here.

What are you doing to celebrate Valentine’s weekend? Any fun plans or traditions?
